This has been a crazy week of rain and flooding in the Houston area. But the weather cleared up just in time for Katie and Brad’s big day at the McGovern Centennial Gardens at Hermann Park. The day started at Hotel Zaza where they got ready for their wedding. After getting a few photos, we headed to the gardens for a beautiful outdoor ceremony.
As a graduate of UH College of Architecture, I have admired the modern design of Peter Bohlin of the Cherie Flores Pavilion since it opened in 2015. The clean architectural lines, combined with a theme garden rooms, and the 30 foot Garden Mount make it one of the most unique wedding venues in Houston. I was able to get some great portraits of the couple around the gardens after the ceremony.
Katie and Brad shared their first dance and later dueled in the traditional fight songs of Texas A&M and University of Texas! After cutting the cake, they mingled with friends and guests both in and outside of the pavilion and enjoyed the pleasantly cool evening weather. For their grand exit, guests lined up with glow sticks to send them off for the night.
