Rachel got ready for the big day with her bridesmaids at JW Marriott Downtown , while Michael and the boys got ready at home. The ceremony took place at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart where we caught some great photos of Rachel laughing as she walking down the aisle. After the ceremony, we headed down to the Houston Graffiti Building to get some creative portraits with the couple and the wedding party. The reception was at Crystal Ballroom, where Rachel and Michael went to their high school prom together 11 years ago! The ballroom looked amazing as always with flowers and linen by Blooming Gallery and cake by Who Made The Cake. After the introduction, the couple shared their first dance and then ate dinner catered by Sambuca Restaurant. The party continued with the cake cutting, toasts and parents dances. With JPL Entertainment providing the music, the guests danced all evening, including the New Orleans Second Line Parade! The night ended with the couple exiting with rose petals and driving back to JW Marriott Downtown in a classic VW Van.   Ceremony: Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart  |  Reception: Crystal Ballroom  |  Hair and Make-up: Blushing Beauty by Nikki  |  Flowers and […]

It was a warm January day as Cassi and Shawn got ready at Pecan Springs in Brookshire, Texas to celebrate their big day! Lisa from My Event Angels set up the first look, including a delightful idea to have them back to back holding hands, before they turned to see each other. Cassi and Shawn wanted to take advantage of the beautiful venue to do lots of creative portraits before the ceremony. And we got some amazing photos, including a shot by an intriguing bare tree that’s turned out to be one of our favorites. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful, including personal vows that they read to each other. After the ceremony, the party moved indoors to Stone Creek Hall where the couple shared their first dance. The guests enjoyed dinner, cake and dancing until the grand exit to end the night. Thank you Cassi and Shawn for making us part of your day! Mona and Aamir met in medical school and started dating in New York City during their residency. She describes their first date as the “best first date ever” and their love grew from that day. The wedding and reception was at the  Houstonian Hotel in Houston and we were ecstatic that they chose us to capture it all. We had worked with Mona and her family for her sister’s wedding a few years ago, and they have remained one of our favorite clients since. After getting ready, Mona and Aamir braved the cold weather for their first look and some quick creative portraits outdoors. Following formal group photos in the lobby, the ceremony and reception took place in the Grand Ballroom. One of our favorite moments were Mona and her father dancing and the knife dance. The dancing never stopped all night as the couple celebrated their special day with their friends and family. We started the day with Eleina at Christ Church Cathedral, where she put on her beautiful dress from Misora Bridal. The cool, overcast day was perfect to get lots of photos of the bridesmaid and groomsmen outside. The church does not allow photography during the ceremony, but we were able get some candid shots of Eleina and her dad (with the amazing planner, Kelly from Eventology,  just behind them) as she was getting ready to enter the church. After the ceremony, we were able to recreate parts of the wedding, including a fun dip kiss. And speaking of dip kisses, if there were an award to the best dip kissing clients, they would win hands down! The reception was just few streets away at the Crystal Ballroom at the Rice Hotel. Eleina requested a portrait inside the ballroom before doors were open, and it turned out to be one of my favorite shots of the evening. My other favorite photos were during  the cake cutting, where Eleina and Paul’s fun personality was captured perfectly. At the end of the night, they shared a private dance (with a dip kiss, of course) and a rose petal exit. Instead of rushing through portraits on the wedding […]

We met up with Saera at the First Presbyterian Church, where she got ready in her beautiful dress with the help of her family and bridesmaids. Saera and Matt did their first look so that we could take some portraits outside before sunset. After the ceremony, we headed to the Petroleum Club of Houston for the reception. It was already dark, but I wanted to capture a portrait of the couple with the background lights of the downtown. While experimenting with different angles, I got one of my favorite shots of the evening using the reflection of the couple on the glass windows. Later in the night, I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth dance moves by Matt! Who knew this quite and reserved MD would put on a show on the dance floor? The night ended with the couple’s grand exit with pom poms. Special thanks to the team at Soireebliss Events for planning another amazing wedding and making our job easier.   Wedding Planner: Soireebliss Events  |  Hair and Make-up: Pink Palette  |  Wedding Ceremony: First Presbyterian Church  |  Wedding Reception: The Petroleum Club of Houston  |  Flowers and Decor:  HEB Flowers |  Cake: Heavenly Sweet Treats  |  Band: Royal Duke’s Band

Leslie and Aaron’s wedding day started at the Hotel Zaza where Leslie and her bridesmaids got their hair and make-up done by one of the best in the industry, Nikki Bartlett and her team. I met up with Aaron and his groomsmen at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where his best man and mother helped by putting the final touches for the big day. I also met Angela Nix, the wedding planner, who was easy and a pleasure to work with all night. The ladies arrived at the church shortly after and Leslie put on her beautiful dress from Weddings by Debbie. The bridesmaids wore different style and color bridesmaid dresses, a trend that I really like. The ceremony was beautiful as St. Paul’s is one of the most iconic churches in Houston. After the ceremony, we headed to the Petroleum Club for the reception. The party started as the guests watched the amazing sunset from the 39th floor view. Damon from PRP Entertainment took over. He promised that this reception would be like no other and he was right! The guests danced non-stop all evening until Leslie and Aaron’s grand exit with flower petals. Leslie and Aaron, have a […]

This has been a crazy week of rain and flooding in the Houston area. But the weather cleared up just in time for Katie and Brad’s big day at the McGovern Centennial Gardens at Hermann Park. The day started at Hotel Zaza where they got ready for their wedding. After getting a few photos, we headed to the gardens for a beautiful outdoor ceremony. As a graduate of UH College of Architecture, I have admired the modern design of Peter Bohlin of the Cherie Flores Pavilion since it opened in 2015. The clean architectural lines, combined with a theme garden rooms, and the 30 foot Garden Mount make it one of the most unique wedding venues in Houston. I was able to get some great portraits of the couple around the gardens after the ceremony. Katie and Brad shared their first dance and later dueled in the traditional fight songs of Texas A&M and University of Texas! After cutting the cake, they mingled with friends and guests both in and outside of the pavilion and enjoyed the pleasantly cool evening weather. For their grand exit, guests lined up with glow sticks to send them off for the night. Wedding Coordinator: Bella Luna  |  Hair and Makeup: […]

Drew and Taemee met in medical school in Houston. Taemee jokes that they met “in typical nerd fashion” in the library studying for exams. But Drew remembers falling for Taemee at a birthday party in 2012 when she walked in looking “more beautiful and striking than I’d ever seen her.” He adds, “She was absolutely stunning. She was funny, interesting, and down to earth. I just enjoyed being around her.” Upon graduating, they both ended up in New York for their medical residency where their love grew stronger. Fast forward to the big day – It started at the Omni Hotel where I was able to get some great photos of Drew getting ready. Then I headed to the Bell Tower on 34th to capture Taemee getting ready with her bridesmaids, who were also ALL doctors! Drew and Taemee shared a sweet first look and we quickly got some group photos and portraits of the two of them before the rain really started to come down. Then it was time to get ready for the ceremony. Shooting a Jewish wedding under a chuppah can be challenging. It can create a shadow under the canopy, making for some pretty unflattering lighting. So […]

Like 35% of recent married couples, Michael and Sara met online. The same Forbe’s article to publish that statistic, goes on to say that couples who meet online are happier and more likely to stay married. After capturing Michael and Sara’s special day, I would say they are definitely going to be happy together for a very long time. The pre-wedding shoot at La Colombe D’or included photos of the dress and Sara getting ready with her family and friends. One of my favorite captures was of Sara helping one of her flowers girls get ready. Once the bride was dressed, we went outside for the first look. I always love this moment when the couple see each other for the first time on their wedding day, and can share their emotions and love privately. The couple then boarded the shuttle and we headed to the St. Theresa Catholic Church for the ceremony. I had seen this church many times because it’s behind one of my daughter’s favorite playgrounds, but never had shot a wedding there before. The ladies at the church were very kind and told me that they preferred that we don’t use a lot of flash, but […]

I don’t like to be surprised at weddings. I work really hard to make sure I am beyond prepared for everything. But I was pleasantly surprised when I met lovely Rochelle and Danny for the first time, on their wedding day. They had booked online and we had been communicating exclusively via phone and emails, so I had actually never met the bride or groom in person. Upon meeting them, I realized this was going to be a great couple to work with! The bride prepared promptly, and the outdoor ceremony on the courtyard of Brennan’s began. After the ceremony, I took some time to get portraits of Rochelle and Danny around the restaurant. What became obvious during this brief time alone with them is how much Danny adores Rochelle. After a few photos of them facing at the camera, I would prompt Danny to look at Rochelle and he would just melt with love for her. After the session, we headed upstairs to the reception where they shared their first dance and you couldn’t help but see the love between them. Then during the dance, I caught some of Danny’s infectious laughter on camera! I loved getting a few more […]
